Booking and payment
How do I book a trip?
Send the three-step trip request on the home page, or message us on WhatsApp. A trip manager replies within 24 hours with a day-by-day plan, hotels, flights and a price. When you're happy, you confirm with a deposit.
How much is the deposit, and when is the balance due?
For routes by road, 20% confirms the trip. For golf and air trips, 30% confirms it, plus the full cost of any flights, because air operators confirm seats only when they are paid in full. The balance is due 60 days before you arrive.
Can I change the route after I book?
Yes. Tell your trip manager what you'd like to change. If a hotel or flight has already been paid, we'll tell you what the change costs before we make it.
What happens if I cancel?
Each quote lists the cancellation terms of the hotels, villas and flights in it, because they differ by supplier and season. We pass on every refund the suppliers give.
Which currency do you charge in?
Prices are in US dollars. We can show your quote in pounds, euros, Australian dollars or rupees as a guide.
Do children pay?
Children under 5 stay free with their parents. Children aged 5 to 11 pay half of an adult's hotel share. Flights are charged per seat at every age.
Flights
Who operates the flights?
Licensed Sri Lankan air operators, such as Cinnamon Air for seaplane and light-aircraft routes. Ceyroute books the flights as your agent; the operator's name is on every booking.
How much luggage can I take?
Cinnamon Air allows 23 kg plus 5 kg of hand luggage. Soft bags fit best. Anything extra, including golf bags if the plane is full, travels by road with your driver and is waiting at the hotel.
What if the flight is cancelled for weather?
Flights run in daylight and depend on the weather. If a flight can't go, your driver takes you by road at no extra cost, and the fare is refunded as the operator allows.
Can we book a private helicopter?
Yes. Private helicopters are chartered for your group and quoted per trip. Tell us the route and the number of people, and we'll send a price.
How much time does a flight save?
Colombo to Sigiriya takes about 30 minutes by air and about 4 hours by road. Colombo to the tea country takes about 40 minutes by air and about 5 hours by road.
Golf
Do I need a handicap certificate?
Some clubs ask for one, so bring it. If you don't have one, tell us your level and we'll check with each club before you travel.
Can I hire clubs?
Most clubs have hire sets. Travelling without clubs also makes flights easier. Tell us your preferences in the trip request and we'll confirm at booking.
Are caddies included?
Caddies are usual at Sri Lankan clubs. Our golf trip prices include green fees and caddies; tips are up to you.
What can a non-golfing partner do?
We plan their days too: tea-estate walks in Nuwara Eliya, Kandy's temples, a spa afternoon or a safari while you play.
Is there a dress code?
Yes, at most clubs. Wear a collared shirt and golf shorts or trousers, and bring soft spikes.
Travel in Sri Lanka
Do I need a visa?
You need an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization), applied for online before you fly. Since 25 May 2026 it has been free for nationals of 40 countries, including the UK, Germany, France, Australia, the US, Japan and Switzerland. Read more.

The south and west coasts are best from December to April, and the east coast from May to September. The hill country is driest from January to April. Read more.
Are your driver-guides licensed?
Yes. We work only with chauffeur guides registered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
Is Sri Lanka good for families?
